Contact the school →Do you offer affordable group ground lessons?
Yes. Join Skyview every Tuesday from 6–8 p.m. for $25 per student. Group ground lessons include guest speakers and time to ask questions. Contact Skyview to confirm the location and how to attend.
Do I need flying experience to start?
No prior flying experience is needed to begin a conversation about lessons. Skyview welcomes beginner students. Introductory flights are available by arrangement; call to confirm the location, price, and plan.
Where does Skyview offer flight training?
Skyview lists Hickory Regional Airport (KHKY) and Foothills Regional Airport (KMRN) in the Morganton/Lenoir area. Confirm your program, aircraft, instructor, and meeting point at your chosen location.
What training programs are available?
The school publishes private pilot, instrument, and commercial training, flight reviews, and ground instruction. It also lists an FAA-approved Redbird full-motion simulator with CVCC at $85/hour. Program and equipment availability should be confirmed when scheduling.
How much does a private pilot certificate cost?
The supplied rate sheet lists Hickory Cessna 172s at $175/hour, the Piper Archer at $200/hour, the Morganton Cessna 172 at $165/hour, and private pilot instruction at $50/hour. Aircraft and instructor charges are separate. Use the budget planner and ask for a current individualized estimate. Minimum flight hours are not a guarantee of total cost.
How long will flight training take?
There is no verified Skyview completion schedule. Progress depends on proficiency, study, lesson frequency, weather, and availability. Discuss realistic milestones with your instructor.
Can I rent an aircraft?
Foothills Regional Airport lists Skyview Cessna 172 rental and training. Call for current rates, aircraft availability, checkout and insurance requirements, and rental policies. Skyview’s fleet also includes two Cessna 172s and a Piper Archer at Hickory. Confirm rental eligibility and checkout requirements.
What are the simulator rates?
Skyview’s current simulator section lists $85 per hour for the simulator and $50 per hour for a certified instructor. Confirm current pricing, whether both charges apply, briefing costs, location, and booking details.
Does simulator time count toward a certificate?
Do not assume credit. It depends on the device approval, instructor involvement, session activity, and applicable FAA requirements. Ask Skyview to explain the approval and how your session would be recorded.
Can I return to flying after a long break?
Skyview welcomes returning pilots and lists flight reviews. Bring your certificate, logbook, and recent experience details. An instructor can discuss a review and any further proficiency work.
Is Skyview a Part 141 school?
The sources reviewed do not establish a Skyview Part 141 school approval. Ask which regulatory pathway applies to your training. This website makes no claim of Part 141 approval.
Do I need a student pilot certificate before lessons?
The FAA says a student pilot certificate is needed before solo, rather than simply to take lessons. Discuss medical qualification and the other solo requirements with your instructor before reaching that stage.
How do I schedule a discovery flight or visit?
Call 828-851-8444 or email skyviewhky@gmail.com. The school’s contact page confirms introductory flights and airport tours. Ask about availability, price, duration, and weather arrangements.
