Lessons and solo have different requirements
The FAA explains that you do not need a student pilot certificate simply to take flying lessons. Before airplane solo flight, you must satisfy the applicable student certificate, medical, training, and endorsement requirements.
Review your intended path with an instructor. Medical qualifications and any alternative pathway depend on your circumstances and the privileges you intend to exercise.

An Aviation Medical Examiner, or AME, conducts FAA medical examinations. The FAA’s medical certification guidance explains MedXPress and how to locate an examiner.
If you have questions about a medical condition or medication, consult an AME before submitting an application. A flight school cannot determine your medical eligibility.

Ask your examiner which records are needed and plan the timing carefully. Some situations require additional documentation or FAA review. No outcome or processing time is guaranteed by this website.
The student pilot certificate and medical certificate are separate documents. Your instructor can help you understand how they relate to your solo preparation.
